Publication Ethics Guide for Authors – International Journal of Economics Sustainable and Management (IJESM)

The International Journal of Economics Sustainable and Management (IJESM) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. All authors submitting manuscripts to IJEM must adhere to ethical guidelines to ensure scholarly publishing integrity, originality, and transparency. Below are the key moral principles that authors must follow.

1. Originality and Plagiarism

  • Authors must submit original work not published elsewhere and not under review in another journal.
  • The maximum similarity index allowed is 20%, with no source exceeding 5%.
  • Proper citations must be provided for all sources, and any previously published work by the author must be referenced appropriately (no self-plagiarism).

2. Authorship and Contributions

  • All authors listed in the paper must have significantly contributed to the research (concept, design, execution, or analysis).
  • Any contributors who do not meet the criteria for authorship (e.g., data collection, funding support) should be acknowledged in a separate section.
  • The corresponding author ensures that all co-authors approve the final manuscript before submission.

3. Data Integrity and Transparency

  • Authors must ensure that all data and findings are accurately presented without fabrication, falsification, or manipulation.
  • Raw data should be retained for verification at least five years after publication.
  • If data were obtained from third-party sources, authors must ensure they have the legal right to use and properly cite them.

4. Ethical Considerations in Research

  • Any research involving human participants must have received prior approval from an Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Ethics Committee and must comply with ethical guidelines.
  • Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that may influence the interpretation of their results.
  • If the research involves sensitive data, authors must ensure confidentiality and informed consent from participants.

5. Peer Review and Response to Feedback

  • Manuscripts submitted to IJEM will undergo a double-blind peer review process, and authors are expected to respond to reviewer comments professionally and promptly.
  • Authors who disagree with a reviewer’s suggestion should provide a clear, logical justification.
  • Any significant revisions should be highlighted and resubmitted within the given deadline.

6. Conflict of Interest and Funding Disclosure

  • Authors must declare any financial, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence their research.
  • If the study received funding, a funding acknowledgement statement must be included in the manuscript.

7. Retractions, Corrections, and Misconduct

  • If significant errors or unethical behaviour (such as plagiarism or data falsification) are found post-publication, the article may be retracted or corrected with a formal notice.
  • Any allegations of misconduct will be investigated thoroughly, and authors may be blacklisted from future submissions if violations are confirmed.

8. Multiple Submissions and Redundant Publications

  • Authors must not submit the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously.
  • If significant portions of content overlap with previous publications, authors must cite the original work and justify why the new submission is distinct.

9. AI-Generated Content Policy

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools (e.g., ChatGPT) for writing or content generation are not permitted unless explicitly acknowledged.
  • AI-generated text cannot be listed as an author, and authors remain fully responsible for the content’s accuracy and integrity.

10. Responsibilities After Publication

  • Authors must promptly report any discovered errors or inaccuracies in their published work.
  • Authors should request a correction notice to be published in IJESM if minor corrections are needed.
